Capterra

One review, three sites, and a search result you do not own

Capterra is usually the cheapest way to take a page one result from a competitor. It is also the cheapest way to lose one.

You are probably here because

One of these sounds familiar.

  • You search “best software in your category” and a Capterra page ranks above you, listing someone else first.
  • Your profile is half filled in and has not been touched since you claimed it.
  • You get reviews on one site and nothing shows up on the other two.

Capterra in detail

What Capterra actually is

Capterra is owned by Gartner Digital Markets, along with GetApp and Software Advice. The three sites share one review pool, which means a single approved review can appear in three places at once. That is the whole reason Capterra is such good value.

Capterra listing pages rank unusually well on Google for commercial searches like best project management software. Those are the searches people make right before they choose, and the page is not yours.

What we do on Capterra

  • Full profile buildEvery field completed, categories chosen for where your buyers actually search.
  • Verified reviewer pipelineSourced from your real customers and taken through Capterra's verification.
  • Network syndicationReviews pushed across Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice rather than sitting on one listing.
  • Category positioningIn the lists that rank, not just the ones that sound right.
  • Review responsesOn all three sites, so no profile looks abandoned.
  • Monthly reportingCount, rating and listing position across the network.

How the programme runs

Profile first. Categories, pricing, feature flags, screenshots and the description. Capterra's own filters only surface you if those fields are filled in correctly, so an incomplete profile is invisible before it is unconvincing.

Then verified reviewers from your customer list, at a steady pace, with the incentive declared exactly as Gartner Digital Markets requires.

Then we check syndication. Reviews do not always propagate across all three sites on their own, and chasing that is a real part of the job.

Questions

Capterra FAQs

No, and the confusion is common. Both are owned by Gartner, but Capterra is part of Gartner Digital Markets and aimed at small and mid-size business buyers. Peer Insights is a separate enterprise platform with much heavier verification and a very different audience.

They are meant to, because the three sites share a review pool, but propagation is not always immediate or complete. Checking and chasing it is part of what we do, because an unsyndicated review is doing a third of the work it could.

Usually two to four weeks from the start of a programme. Capterra's verification is lighter than Gartner Peer Insights, which is why it is the usual place to start building volume.
